{New} Crystal Jade Dining IN Chef’s Recommendation

Someone recently asked me what’s my favourite thing to eat. Well, that’s a bit of a loaded question, don’t you think? It’s kind of like inquiring about the best song of all time, forcing you to choose between the beautifully-layered harmonies of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and Nina Simone‘s smooth jazz-y song, Feeling Good.

With so many delicious dishes to choose from, it makes sense to have plenty of favourites. There are steamed, fried, poached, roasted, and braised delights, and thankfully, Crystal Jade Philippines manages to cover a lot of ground.

This week, Crystal Jade Dining IN unveiled a new luxurious menu featuring a refined array of Chef’s Recommendations. Luckily, I was one of the few people to have tasted these new dishes for the first time.

Fresh Live Sliced Garoupa

The Chinese have an appetite for live fish and Crystal Jade‘s Poached sliced Garoupa in Superior Soup is a special dining experience where even the meticulous table-side presentation is a treat. Light and full of complex flavour, this soup is a crowd-pleaser and will surely warm up your day.

Pan-fried Golden Prawn with Cheese and Sweet & Sour Sauce

A personal favourite of mine was the Pan-fried Golden Prawn with Cheese. The prawn is lightly-baked atop a buttery, cheesy, toast with a crispy, crunchy exterior then drizzled with a sweet and sour sauce. The textures and flavours in this easy dish play off each other beautifully. Chinese or not, it’s one of the most perfect bites on the face of this planet.

We also had the Braised Beef Ribs with Fresh Pear Fruit. Eat it on its own, as recommended, or if you’re like me who can’t live without rice, then do pair it with the Seafood Curry Fried Rice. The tender, succulent ribs stand up well to the bold flavours of the curry.

Poached Live Shrimp (Suahe)

I can’t possibly leave you without mentioning the “all-time favourites”, so I’ll give you the requisite foundation to any meal I enjoy at Crystal Jade: Xiao Long Bao, Salted Egg Custard Buns, Poached Live “Suahe”and Deep-fried Soft Shell Crabs. These are also perfect for those who want more familiar fare, but none of it is lacking in flavour or inspiration.

The new Chef’s Recommendations aren’t drastically different or more dressed up compared to any other classic Chinese restaurant; they’re just made with more care than usual, and that little bit of extra care is what makes the dining experience memorable every time. Crystal Jade Dining IN is a great place to go with friends or family, and you can eat well without burning a hole in your pocket.
