Scoopernova: Out Of This World Artisan Ice Cream

Today, I wanted to shine a spotlight on one of my ultimate favorite ice cream shops, Scoopernova. If you’ve been paying attention to my Instagram photos in the sidebar on the right, you might have already discovered this tasty little gem. Like its description says, Scoopernova makes “Out of this world artisan ice cream.”

Scoopernova is owned and managed by Jon who happens to be a really good friend of mine. I can tell you Jon is a man of few words. He works quietly, deliberately, almost stoically–whether he’s making anglaise or roasting nuts; And you know what? That’s fine, because frankly, his ice cream really speaks for itself.

Scoopernova‘s first flavours, insisted on only the finest ingredients, and J made all his ice cream by hand, in small batches, to ensure freshness and quality. He uses ingredients sourced from local markets, farms, and artisans.

Currently, Scoopernova has 6 flavours–Vanilla, Chocolate Almond, Matcha, Butter Pecan, Salted Caramel, and Cookies and Cream. They are all equally good but I’d have to say my favorites are the Butter Pecan and Chocolate Almond flavours.

I know this post is a little bit of a shameless plug but the bottom line is, artisan ice cream is a rare breed and good artisan ice cream is even rarer. It’s also worth remembering that good ice cream machines don’t make good ice cream; people do. Scoopernova is among the best out there, so make sure you treat yourself a pint or two of ice cream as often as you can!

P.S.
I realized I haven’t put up a new post in a month now, and I know many of you have been wondering when I plan on publishing new reviews. As most of you already know, I do have a full-time job and last month was probably our busiest month yet. I haven’t written anything new lately but probably will spend some time doing that in the coming days. Stay tuned! 🙂
