Feature: Macao Imperial Tea Philippines

For years following its arrival in Manila, Milk Tea was like a cult favorite and tea shops have popped up all over the Metro. The recent opening of Macao Imperial Tea Philippines suggests that this drink is not just your average chilled tea with tapioca pearls. The brand takes pride in giving its customers a personalized experience in each and every cup.

What is Macao Imperial Tea anyway? Originally from China, Macao Imperial Tea is one of the fastest-growing cafe chains in Macau. With stores in Macau, Vietnam, China, United States, and now, Philippines, their goal is to ‘bring handcrafted goodness all over the world’.

Macao Imperial Tea Philippines is brought to us by Fredley Group of Companies–the same group behind Sandaya Yakiniku (Fisher Mall), Shabu-shabu Ichiban, Mitaso Charcoal Yakiniku, and Ersao Wind Tagaytay.

Last week, I was invited to the media preview of Macao Imperial Tea Philippines. Located on Banawe Street, this tea shop is bright, peppy, and the space is much larger than the other tea shops in town.

The selection of teas, sodas, coffees, and other specialty drinks is exceptional. I have to say that I was very impressed by the comprehensive list of available options. Here are some of the drinks I’ve sample along with personal suggestions for what to try when you visit Macao Imperial Tea.

MIT Soda Beverages (Served Iced) L-R: Over The Rainbow Soda, Blue Curacao, Green Apple

MIT Soda – A good alternative to “Popular Sodas” as MIT uses less sugar and natural sweeteners such as fresh fruits or fruit syrup. These sodas taste super fresh and are reasonably virtuous. Personal recommendation: Blue Curacao

Chocolate Lava Cake

Chocolate Lava Cake – When it comes to chocolate cake, I don’t mess around. I don’t know about you, but for me, the perfect chocolate cake is insanely moist and this Chocolate Lava Cake is dark, moist, rich, and incredibly decadent. Best paired with their Osmanthus Oolong Tea.

Cream Cheese Oreo Milk Tea + Black Pearl add-on

Cream Cheese Oreo Milk Tea –Β A mildly-sweet drink that turned out to be super creamy with faintly floral tea notes, and smoothie-like consistency. Whoever thought adding crushed Oreo cookies to the mix is pure genius. Personal recommendation: Go for the black pearl add-on.Β

Original Cheesecake – Rich and creamy, this classic New York-Style Cheesecake is truly, truly heavenly. With a thick, buttery crust and a seriously smooth cream cheese filling, good luck resisting that second slice. πŸ˜‰

For Me Special Drink (Strawberry Milk Tea)

For You (Caramel Macchiato) & For Me (Strawberry Milk Tea) Special Drink – The perfect drink for summer! These drinks come in really cute re-usable containers. Both flavours are delicious but I personally recommend the Strawberry Milk Tea.

Mocha Sans Rival Cake – My personal favourite! This cake is buttery, nutty, and although it’s incredibly rich, it’s not sickeningly sweet.

Macao Imperial Tea‘s tea game is killer strong. This shop is dedicated to making their teas with the finest ingredients. Fortunately for us, MIT has finally made its way to the Philippines and we could not be more #blessed. I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a refreshing drink or some place cool to hang out.
