Located on Lilac Street, a well-known eating destination in Marikina, 75 Lilac Cafe + Kitchen perfectly blends a sleepy small town atmosphere with let-the-good-times-roll food. They have a good range of options including American and Asian comfort dishes as well as classic Filipino fare.
As it wasn’t my first time visiting here, I was never more powerfully impressed with the improvements of the service and overall decor. The menu improvements at 75 Lilac Cafe + Kitchen are also worth mentioning.
Almost everything is good here from the Chori Burger to the 3-Cheese Pizza, to more elaborate dishes like the Truffle Mushroom Pasta and Crispy Kare-Kare. I think everyone can find something they like once they navigate the thoughtfully-curated menu.
The Prawns with Aligue was excellent and have an almost cult-like following. It had the perfect balance of savoury and sweet taste that pairs well with steamed rice.
I also enjoyed the Beef Salpicao. Simple, flavorful, extremely juicy, and unlike most Beef Salpicao dishes, it’s not salty or drowned in soy sauce. The Shrimp Pesto Pasta, in my opinion, was one of the best items on the menu; Creamy with all the right ingredients – a must get. I found it to be a pretty big portion, too.
We also tried some of their house specialties such as the Salted Egg Chicken, Crispy Pata, Sizzling Sinigang Ala Pobre, Bagnet Pakbet, and Crispy Sisig. Out of the five, the Salted Egg Chicken was my least favourite. I thought the salted egg yolk taste is somewhat lacking.
For the dessert, don’t miss the Nutella Cheesecake, Choco-Lava Cake, and Frozen Brazo. In my opinion, the quintessential comfort-food dishes never fail to warm our spirits and whether you’re looking for the best burgers, hearty soups, or decadent treats, I’m sure you’ll find it at 75 Lilac Cafe + Kitchen.
