Featured: Wee Nam Kee

This place is a neighborhood favourite. It brings in many different types of crowds, older people who have been patrons since this place had opened and younger crowds who probably come here after a fun day at the mall.

Wee Nam Kee has consistently delivered on all fronts through these years. They have good range of options, including unique Singaporean dishes as well as classic Chinese fare.

Whenever I go here, my constant order would be the Chicken Rice, either roasted or steamed. It’s one of my favourites because it highlights the simplicity and purity of the chicken flavour. Wee Nam Kee‘s version was juicy, tender, and savory and the soy-based sauce added another dimension to the dish.

Last week, Wee Nam Kee just launched their new Holiday Menu and I got first dibs on some of the dishes being offered–Laksa Lava Fish Cake, Cereal Soft-Shelled Crab, Chili Soft-Shelled Crab, and Braised Brisket with Potatoes.

Everything was delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the dishes were well made. I enjoyed all of them but the Laksa Lava Fish Cake was my favourite. The Fish Cake was tasty, crispy, succulent, and the Laksa filling was an EXPLOSION of flavours.

The Cereal Soft-Shelled Crab was also a stunner. It had a great savory-sweet crunch to itΒ and paired perfectly with the chili dipping sauce.

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the dishes and it is never a gamble to eat here. What you order will be delicious and will make you come back over and over again. Wee Nam Kee is a great introduction to this world of food and for the price, you really can’t beat it.
