Food Review: Takami, The Yard at Xavierville

On days when comfort food is all you need, Takami at The Yard at Xavierville has got you covered. This little stall serves amazing Japanese snacks such as Gyoza and Okonomiyaki that will not cost you an arm and a leg.

The Food Crawlers was recently invited to try their dishes; We sampled the Beef Bulgogi, Chicken Teriyaki, and Buffalo Chicken Gyozas. Their Gyozas had that crispy-tender fried crust on the bottom that I never quite get at home or in other Japanese restaurants. The fillings had some serious depth; Tender, tasty beef Bulgogi strips, and juicy, flavourful pieces of chicken. Every bite was a party in my mouth.

Cheesy Bacon Okonomiyaki

Takami‘s Cheesy Bacon Okonomiyaki was delicious too! It had fresh green onions, cabbage, bacon, Japanese Mayonnaise, and bonito flakes. The ingredients were just fantastic, flavoured nicely by the sauce they pour on top of each pancake.

Toched Cheesy Beef Gyudon

Another solid item and probably the best dish on the menu was the Torched Cheesy Donburi. I personally recommend the Beef Gyudon. This dish was executed so well. The beef was so tender, moist, and tasty. Best paired with steamed rice and a cold bottled of beer.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the food here. It’s affordable, delicious, and done right. These dishes are fantastic munchies the next time your late night cravings strike. Definitely come by with your friends and family!
